Feb 7th District 4, Seat 8 Alder Candidate Forum

7pm in Oak Hall at the Fitchburg Community Center

The Forum Agenda and 5 lead-off questions are below. The
Forum is organized so that the 1st question will be asked of each candidate in alphabetical order by last name, i.e., Mr. Jones, Mr. Kinney, Mr. Lehmann, and Ms. Rice.  The follow-up question to the 1st question will also be asked in that order.  The follow-up question will determined by asking 3 people in attendance to offer a follow-up question.  The question preferred by the largest number of attendees by show of hands will then be asked.

The 2nd question will be asked of Mr. Kinney, followed by Mr. Lehmann, etc.  The follow-up question to the 2nd question will also be asked in that order.  This process will continue through the 5th question.

Regarding access to the Forum for people who can’t attend, FACTV will cover the event “live”.  We are also checking with the candidates to see if they are OK with sending us their answers to each lead-off question (and each follow-up question) so we can post their answers on a website that we would set up.  If this occurs, the website will be online by Feb 13th at this link:

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Forum on Feb 7th.  Please let us know if you have any questions about this email.

1. In two minutes or less, please tell us why you are running for Alder and rank what you see as the top three priorities you will work to address and why?

2.  Are you aware of the history and ongoing debate regarding housing density in the North Stoner Prairie Neighborhood? If so, could you please let us know your thoughts on what you envision should be the maximum housing density in North Stoner Prairie?

3.  Are you aware about the problems with water drainage and flooding problems involving the Seminole Glen Park kettle?  Can we count on your support as an Alder to request the City implement a long-term solution?

4.  There is great interest within the Seminole Forest Neighborhood about placing traffic calming devices especially on Schumann Drive and Osmundsen Rd, as well as the intersection of Schumann and Osmundsen.  These concerns have been ongoing for years with no action from the City.  Can we count on your support to finally make this a reality?

5.  What are your thoughts regarding transparency and openness in our government?  Do you feel that both elected and appointed city officials should be more diligent with reporting potential conflicts of interest?

Lacy Heights 4th of July Parade will start at 9AM on Wednesday, July 4th

at the corner of Stoner Prairie Park & Scarlet Drive.

This annual tradition brings the Fitchburg Fire Department to the neighborhood for a quick walk or bike ride behind a fire engine. Stay for the fun post-parade kickball game with the firefighters at the Savanna Oaks baseball field.

Popsicles will be provided to parade goers, and a balloon toss is once again planned. So dress in your red, white and blue and come out for a happy start to the 4th! Kids often decorate their bikes to celebrate in patriotic style.  It's not just a kid event, adults should attend for a chance to hangout with neighbors.

The meeting with developers of the North Stoner Prairie Neighborhood to hear about their new plan to construct 190+ apartment units between Lacy Heights and Seminole Hwy is scheduled for

TONIGHT, January 11th, 2018 @ 5:30PM

Fitchburg Community Center lower level

Please see message below from Lacy Heights Neighborhood Association President Tom Thoresen about an upcoming meeting concerning a substantial proposed change to the North Stoner Prairie development regarding high density apartments.

*** Important Meeting for Neighbors to know about ***

On Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at 5:30 PM in the Fitchburg Community Center- lower level (Senior Center) there will be a meeting of interested Lacy Heights and Seminole Forest Neighbors to hear about a proposed change to the North Stoner Prairie Neighborhood Plan (NSPNP) that will be presented by Developer Chris Ehlers and Craig Raddatz from Fiduciary Real Estate Development to show a proposal that would change the approved medium density (condos) or single family areas currently in the NSPNP (area South of the proposed Blackhawk Church) to allow high density apartments in that area. You are encouraged to come, learn about the proposal, ask questions and express what you like or don't like about the proposal before any proposed changes sought by the developer are taken to the Fitchburg Plan Commission for their process. I expect our aldermen will also likely attend. Hope you can come.
